Scarbrough's Special Project Division triumph in relocating a massive punching machine from Germany to Ohio
Scarbrough’s special project division successfully relocated a large punching machine from Bretten, Germany to Valley City, OH 44280. The machine, measuring 17’3x16’8”x147” and weighing 135,509 lbs, required careful planning and coordination. SPECIAL EQUIPMENT
The transportation process involved a specialized trailer in Germany, which transported the cargo to Hamburg. From there, the machine was placed on a mafi trailer and loaded onto a multipurpose ro/ro containership.
CHALLENGES
Despite a flawless journey to Baltimore, we encountered issues with obtaining permits from the state of WV prior to the vessel's arrival. This forced us to change our route and find an alternative solution. The most challenging aspect of the move was the width of the cargo, which posed several difficulties in the northeast region. While this width may not be as problematic in other parts of the nation, it presented unique challenges in this area.
CONCLUSION
Fortunately, we managed to find a new route through Pennsylvania, albeit with some additional mileage. Despite the obstacles, we successfully delivered the cargo to its destination.
