Welcome to the new edition of the Scarbrough Journal. As we move closer to the end of 2024, we take a look at one of our closest trading partners, Mexico. The geographic proximity offers plenty of potential benefits as a trade partner and lately our economies have become increasingly interconnected.

In this Journal, we explore the current state of the Mexican economy, including some recent developments and trends that have helped stabilize the country’s economic outlook. We also dive into one of the hottest topics regarding Mexico, nearshoring. With companies looking for new ways to save money and decouple their business from China, they’ve looked to move their operations closer to home and Mexico has been a major benefactor. We look at how effective that decoupling has been in reality. We also discuss the influence of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into Mexico and where that money is coming from. This issue goes through the ins and outs of doing business in Mexico, from the incorporation process to the differences in customs processes and cultural practices between Mexico and the U.S. Lastly, we introduce you to our Mexican office and show you how Scarbrough can help you navigate the complexities of Mexican trade.

Thank you for reading and enjoy the issue!
